You can delete your MoveMentors account at any time. This article covers the process, what happens to your data, and what we have to retain for legal reasons.
Before you delete
A few things to consider:
Have unresolved bookings
If you have upcoming bookings (as a student or host), deletion will cancel them. Refund logic applies:
- Student-side upcoming bookings: get refunded per cancellation policy.
- Host-side upcoming bookings: students get refunded; you absorb any losses.
Best practice: resolve outstanding bookings first. Cancel or complete them.
Want a break, not a permanent exit?
You can deactivate your account without deleting it:
- Mentor: /mentor/settings/profile → "Deactivate profile". Profile becomes private; data stays.
- Studio: similarly under studio settings.
- Student: not directly available; just stop logging in. Your account is preserved.
Deactivating is reversible; deletion is not.
Have reviews on your profile
Reviews you have left stay on the platform (we anonymise the reviewer name to "Deleted user" but keep the content). Reviews left ON you (if you are a host) also stay, also anonymised on the host side.
Are mid-subscription
If you are on a paid tier, deletion stops auto-renewal. You do not get a refund for the current period.
Recommended: cancel your subscription first (which moves you to Free at end of period), then delete.
How to delete
Self-serve (limited)
/settings/account → "Delete account" (at the bottom of the page).
A confirmation dialog appears. Read it carefully; deletion is irreversible. Type your email to confirm and click "Permanently delete my account".
For accounts with no active bookings, no paid subscription, and no significant data, this works immediately.
Via support (everyone else)
For accounts with active bookings, subscriptions, or unusual circumstances: email support@movementors.com with "Delete my account" in the subject. We respond within 1 business day.
We confirm a few things:
- Identity verification (we send a confirmation email to your registered email; you reply confirming).
- Status of any outstanding bookings.
- Status of any active subscription.
Then we process the deletion. Usually takes 1-3 business days end-to-end.
What gets deleted

What gets retained
For legal, financial, or operational reasons:

Retained data is anonymised when possible. Booking records, for example, replace your name and email with "Deleted user" and reference a non-recoverable ID.
If law enforcement requested records about you BEFORE deletion, those records are preserved for legal compliance, but they are not used for any other purpose.
Stripe payouts in flight
If you are a host and Stripe is mid-payout when you delete:
- The payout completes to your bank as normal. Stripe is independent of MoveMentors.
- Your MoveMentors-side records of past bookings are anonymised.
- Your Stripe account is disconnected from MoveMentors but remains intact at Stripe.
If you want to also delete your Stripe account, do that separately with Stripe directly.
Re-creating an account later
You can sign up again with the same email any time after deletion. We treat the new account as a fresh signup; the old account's data is gone (or anonymised).
If you re-create an account quickly after deleting (within days), you can email support to ask whether anything from the old account can be linked. Usually not; deletion is meant to be clean.
GDPR / data deletion requests
If you are in a jurisdiction with formal data-deletion rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, etc), a deletion request from you triggers our compliance process. We respond within the legally required timeframe (30 days for GDPR, shorter for some others).
The retention exceptions above are legal exceptions under those regimes; we are not retaining data arbitrarily. Tax law in most jurisdictions requires 7-year record retention; we cannot delete tax records just because you ask.
For non-EU users with stronger requests, we honour the spirit even when not legally required. Email support and explain what you need.
Deleting just a piece of data
You can delete specific pieces without deleting the whole account:
- A review you left: open the review, click "Delete this review".
- A photo on your profile: settings → photos → delete.
- A booking note in your CRM: open the client detail, edit the note, save as empty.
- Calendar sync credentials: settings → calendar → disconnect.
For partial deletions you cannot self-serve, email support describing what you want removed.
Common questions
Can I delete my account and keep my reviews? Your reviews stay on the platform (anonymised). They do not disappear when you delete. If you want a specific review removed, delete it BEFORE deleting your account.
Can I delete just my email and keep the account? No. Email is a required field on an account. You can change it to a different email, but you cannot have an account with no email.
What if I think someone deleted my account without my permission? Email support with details. We can recover an account from backups within the 30-day backup window. Beyond that, recovery is not possible.
Will my MoveMentors-related Stripe charges show "MoveMentors" or my own name after I delete? Stripe charges show the host's name (or your name if you were the host). Deletion on our side does not change historical Stripe records.
Will my email be removed from your email service (Resend)? After deletion, Resend retains some delivery logs (for spam-compliance reasons). The email itself is not used for any further sends.
