Both take bookings and payments. The difference is who they are built for and how they charge.
Independent teachers
You teach yoga, pilates, barre or meditation in rented rooms, parks, clients' homes or online. You get a bookable profile, a directory listing and card, cash or bank transfer payments, plus class packs and online classes on Pro.
Small studios with one to four rooms
You run a few rooms and a handful of instructors. You get an instructor roster, an instructor on every session, checks against double-booked rooms, a public studio page, and the option to rent rooms to visiting teachers.
Clients who don't want another app
Clients book in the browser on any phone or computer, and guests can book without an account. The site works in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian and Dutch.
When Mindbody is the better fit
Mindbody suits businesses with several locations that want corporate-level controls, automated email and text campaigns, pick-a-spot booking or a custom branded app (Mindbody pricing page, September 2026). It also lists you in the Mindbody app, which Mindbody says has more than 3 million active users (Mindbody app page for businesses, September 2026).

Export your client list from Mindbody
Mindbody lets you export client contacts, purchase history and visits as CSV files, and you keep access to your data through your final billing date (Mindbody guide to contracts and cancellation, March 2026). Export before you cancel.

Create your free MoveMentors account
Sign up as a teacher or as a studio, then add your photo, a short bio and where you teach. The free plan needs no card.

Choose how clients pay
Connect your own Stripe account for card payments and add the other methods you accept, such as cash or bank transfer. MoveMentors takes no commission on any of them.

Add your classes and schedule
Give each class a price and a capacity, then add the dates it runs. One cancellation policy (Flexible, Moderate or Strict) covers all your classes.

Import your clients
On a teacher account, upload the Mindbody CSV on the Clients page of your dashboard: up to 2,000 rows and 2 MB per file. First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone and Notes columns are recognised, and clients already on your list are updated, not duplicated.

Mindbody asks for at least 30 days' notice before the end of your term, and most month-to-month contracts start with a 90-day minimum (Mindbody guide to contracts and cancellation, March 2026). Check your own agreement for the exact dates.

Is MoveMentors cheaper than Mindbody for a small studio?
Compare the published prices. Mindbody's US pricing starts at $79 a month per location, and Accelerate and Ultimate are priced on request (Mindbody US pricing guide, August 2026). MoveMentors has a free studio plan, Studio Pro at $49 a month or $499 a year, and Studio Premium at $99 a month. Neither charges a setup fee, and card processing fees apply on both.
Does MoveMentors take a commission on bookings?
No. MoveMentors takes 0% of class payments on every plan, including bookings from clients who found you in the directory. Card payments go to your own Stripe account, so Stripe's fee applies: 2.9% plus $0.30 per US card charge, varying by country (Stripe pricing page, September 2026). Mindbody charges 20% of a new client's first purchase, up to $30, when its app brought you that client (Mindbody pricing page, September 2026).
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly with no minimum term, and cancelling stops the next renewal. Yearly billing is optional and saves 17% on Teacher Pro and 15% on Studio Pro. Can I import my Mindbody clients?
Yes, on a teacher account. Export your clients from Mindbody as a CSV file and upload it on the Clients page of your MoveMentors dashboard, up to 2,000 rows and 2 MB per file. Name, email, phone and notes columns are recognised, and clients already on your list are updated rather than duplicated. Client import is available on teacher accounts only.
What does Mindbody do that MoveMentors does not?
Mindbody offers automated email and text marketing campaigns, an AI front desk, pick-a-spot booking, corporate-level controls for several locations, a custom branded app and a listing in the Mindbody app (Mindbody pricing page, September 2026). MoveMentors offers none of these, and it does not sell retail products or run payroll. It focuses on bookings, payments, schedules and the directory.
Do my clients need an app or an account?

Can I keep taking cash and bank transfers?
Yes. Alongside card payments through Stripe, you can accept cash, bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, Wise, crypto or cards in person. Bookings paid these ways confirm straight away, and MoveMentors takes no commission on any of them.
How long does switching take?
The setup is short: create your account, add your classes, connect Stripe and import your clients. The timing mostly depends on Mindbody, which asks for at least 30 days' notice before the end of your term (Mindbody guide to contracts and cancellation, March 2026). You can run both until your notice period ends.
