Weekly class limit
Free mentor and studio accounts include 1 scheduled session per week, from Monday to Sunday in the account timezone (UTC if none is set). Each group class, private lesson or event date counts separately across all classes and locations, including dates in drafts. Recurring schedules can run once per week on Free. Cancelled sessions do not count. Bookings within a session are unlimited. Upgrade to Pro or Premium to schedule more than 1 session in a week. Existing scheduled sessions and bookings stay in place after a downgrade; adding more sessions requires an upgrade.
There are three account types on MoveMentors: student to find and book classes, mentor if you teach under your own name, and studio if you run a space where several teachers teach. Students never pay MoveMentors. Mentor and studio accounts start free, and paid plans are on pricing. On the sign-up page they are called Find my practice, Share my practice and Run my space.
Every type has its own setup and its own dashboard, so getting it right at signup saves you redoing work. If you pick the wrong one, email us and we switch it for you.

Student
Pick student if your goal is to find classes near you and book them.
You can search the classes directory by city, category, class type, format (online or in person), dates and language, book classes, events and retreats, save classes, mentors and studios to your Saved list, and leave a review after a class you attended. Many bookings work as a guest with just a name and email; you need an account for class packs, memberships, promo codes and booking for family members.
Students do not pay MoveMentors anything. The price you see on a class is what you pay the host, and card payments go straight to the host's own Stripe account.
Pick student even if you might teach occasionally. If you teach a class once a year for a friend's studio, you do not need a mentor account: the studio can credit you as a custom mentor. Just keep using your student account.
Mentor
Pick mentor if you teach your own classes under your own name.
Every plan, Free included, gives you:
- A public profile at
movementors.com/<your-city>/<your-slug>with your bio, photos, certifications (once our team has approved them) and your classes - 1 class per week and bookings, at several locations if you teach in more than one place
- Events with an agenda and up to 4 co-hosts, waitlists, pay-what-you-can pricing and tips
- Private sessions that clients book on your weekly availability, for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, which you confirm
- Card payments through your own Stripe account (a card booking confirms once the client has paid), plus off-platform methods such as bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, cash and crypto
- A client list, with client import from a CSV file
- Calendar connections (Google, Apple, Zoom) and connecting an AI assistant (MCP)
- Boosts ($5 per session) and the prepaid text reminder add-on
Ads can show on Free profiles.
Pro ($9.99 a month or $99 a year) adds financials and expenses, earnings CSV export, class packs and group packages, promo codes (up to 5 active), online classes on Google Meet or Zoom, the ID verified badge, the video library, and no ads.
Premium ($19.99 a month or $199 a year) adds memberships, the embed booking widget for your own website, retreats (with payment plans of 2 to 6 payments) and up to 50 active promo codes.
Class packs, group packages and memberships also need Stripe connected.
The tradeoff: you are responsible for the relationship with your students. You pick your cancellation policy, refund card payments from your own Stripe Dashboard when a refund is owed, and confirm private sessions. We give you the tools but stay out of the way.
If you also teach at a studio, the studio can add you to its instructor roster as an employee or a renter, and you can ask to rent a studio's room for your own classes (see renting studio space).
Studio
Pick studio if you run a space, such as a studio with one to four rooms, where several teachers (employed or renting) teach under your business name.
Every studio plan, Free included, gives you:
- A public studio page, your classes and schedule, and bookings
- Card payments through your own Stripe account, and off-platform methods
- Several locations and rooms, with no plan limit, and room conflict protection so two sessions never overlap in the same room
- Instructor roster. Invite teachers who have a MoveMentors mentor account as employees (your studio creates the classes and collects payment) or renters (they run their own classes and pay you a rental fee), and choose who teaches each session.
- Space rentals. Set rental terms for a room and approve rent-this-space requests from visiting teachers.
- Custom mentors. A name, photo and short bio for teachers who don't have a MoveMentors account.
- Reviews, a client list and the text reminder add-on
Studio Pro ($49 a month or $499 a year) adds financials and expenses, and the video library. Studio Premium ($99 a month or $999 a year) has the same studio tools as Pro today. Paying yearly saves 15% for studios.
Some mentor tools are not available to studios: class packs, promo codes, memberships, the embed widget, CSV import and export, calendar sync, online classes, ID verification and boosts.
The studio dashboard is built for running the business: classes, schedule, client bookings, clients, reviews, instructors, rental requests and locations.
Studio accounts cannot also be students
A studio account is a business account and can't book classes. If a studio owner wants to book classes at other studios as a person, sign up for a separate student account with a different email.
Edge cases
I am a solo instructor but I teach at several places. A mentor account fits. You can add several locations and pick one for each class. A studio account is for a space where several teachers teach.
I run a tiny pop-up collective with two other teachers. Two setups work:
- Each of you signs up as a mentor and runs your own classes. For a shared workshop, one of you creates an event and adds the others as co-hosts (up to 4).
- If you share one space and one schedule, register the space as a studio and invite each teacher to your instructor roster. Each teacher needs their own mentor account for that.
If most of you also teach on your own, option 1 is usually simpler.
I want to teach occasionally for fun, do I need a mentor account? A free mentor account is enough. With it, a studio can add you to its roster as a renter, or you can ask to rent a room at a studio for your class. If a studio simply credits you on its own class, it can list you as a custom mentor and you don't need an account at all.
