A studio on Pro or Premium can run classes online. Your clients book the class on your studio page as usual and get a Google Meet or Zoom link the moment their booking confirms.
Studio Pro is $49 a month or $499 a year. Your classes at the studio keep working on every plan, Free included.
Whose video account is used
The link for each booking is made on the Google Meet or Zoom account of the instructor who teaches that session. Your studio does not connect a video account of its own.
That means two things:
- An online class needs an instructor on your roster who is an employee and has connected Google Meet or Zoom.
- Every online session needs an instructor. You cannot leave it on "Decide per session".
Before you start
- Be on Studio Pro or Premium. Change plan under Settings, then Your plan.
- Have at least one employed instructor on your roster. See Your instructor roster.
- Ask that instructor to connect Google or Zoom in their own account, on their Connections page. It takes about a minute. See Connections.
If you teach the classes yourself, make a free teacher profile with another email address, invite it to your roster as an employee, and connect Google or Zoom there.
Create the class
- Go to Classes, then Create class.
- At the top, choose Online instead of At your studio.
- Fill in the class as usual. There is no room to pick.
- Under Who teaches it?, choose the instructor. Only instructors with Google Meet or Zoom connected are listed.
- Add your dates and publish.
On the Free plan, Online shows a lock and the price of Pro. It takes you to your plan page.
If none of your instructors has connected a video account yet, the page tells you so and links to your Instructors page.
What your clients get
A client books like any other class. When the booking confirms, the join link is on their confirmation page and in their confirmation email. Times on an online class show the time zone, because there is no room to go by.
A paid online class is paid by card, so your studio needs Stripe connected to charge for one. A free online class needs no Stripe: the booking confirms straight away.
On your schedule
Online sessions show on your studio calendar with a camera and the word Online, and the time shows its time zone.
Rooms cannot clash, because there is no room. People can: the same instructor cannot teach two online sessions at the same time. If you try, we tell you which class is in the way.
Changing the instructor
Open the session on your calendar and assign another instructor. They need Google Meet or Zoom connected too. Clients who already booked keep the link they were sent, so tell the new instructor how to get into that call, or cancel and rebook those clients.
Common questions
Can the studio connect its own Zoom? Not today. The link always comes from the instructor's account.
One instructor uses Zoom and another uses Google Meet. Is that a problem? No. Each session uses whichever account its instructor has connected. If someone has both, Zoom is used.
Can a renter teach my online class? No. Online classes created by the studio are taught by employed instructors. A renter runs their own classes from their own account.
