Business profile

What every section of a studio's public profile looks like to students and how to optimise it.

StudiosUpdated 2026-05-18

Your studio profile is the public face of your business. It lives at movementors.com/studios/<your-slug> and pulls together your locations, your teaching roster, your classes, and your reviews.

Hero section

Logo. The single biggest visual element. Use the wordmark/symbol that represents your brand, not a photo of the inside of your studio.

Business name. Your studio's name as it appears everywhere. Studios often use their legal name ("Riverside Yoga Studio LLC") while consumers prefer the trade name ("Riverside Yoga"). Use the trade name here.

City. Your anchor city. Click reveals all your locations on a map.

Tier badge. Pro / Premium studios get a "Featured" pill. Free studios do not.

Average rating and review count. Aggregated across all classes you host.

Primary CTAs: "View classes" (shows the schedule) and "Request a private session" (if you have enabled it).

About / description

The text block you wrote during onboarding. Tips for a strong studio description:

Open with what kind of studio

"Riverside is a Pilates studio specialising in classical mat and reformer work, in business since 2014." That sentence is clear and dense.

Avoid: "Welcome to our beautiful space where movement transforms lives." Vague brand-speak does not help students decide.

Be specific about offerings

What styles, what levels, what populations. "We serve everyone from absolute beginners to longtime practitioners, with separate beginner / intermediate / advanced tracks" is concrete.

Describe the space

Square footage, equipment, parking, accessibility. Photos help but words anchor expectations.

Mention the team approach

How you hire teachers, what kind of pedagogy you follow, what the teacher development looks like. Students considering recurring classes care about whether the studio will still be good in a year.

House etiquette

Arrival time, shoes-off policy, phones, food. Setting expectations beats correcting at the door.

Locations

A list of your venues with a map. Each location shows:

  • Name (e.g. "Main studio", "Annex")
  • Full address with directions link
  • Operating hours (if set)
  • Any extra notes (parking, accessibility, what kind of space)

A studio with 3 locations is meaningfully more discoverable than one with 1, especially in city directories. Adding locations is one of the highest-leverage activities after onboarding.

In-house mentors / teachers

Your roster, displayed as cards. Two kinds:

Platform mentors (real MoveMentors profiles you have invited and they accepted). Their card links to their full profile, where students can see all their classes, reviews, and contact info.

Custom mentors (names you credit without a platform profile). Card shows name + photo + short bio. No clickthrough; they are credit, not contact.

Most studios mix both: a few real platform mentors plus custom mentors for in-house teachers who do not need separate profiles.

A studio with named teachers (rather than anonymous classes) gets more bookings. People follow teachers; the teacher attribution helps.

See Custom mentors and Inviting platform mentors.

Classes

The upcoming schedule. Each card shows:

  • Class title and category.
  • Next session date.
  • Location (which of your venues).
  • Teacher (the platform mentor or custom mentor assigned).
  • Capacity, available seats, price, accepted payment methods.

Reviews

Star average + individual reviews. Reviews are public, attached to a real student account, immutable by you. You can respond to each.

Studio reviews are aggregated across all classes you have hosted. They cover the studio experience: venue, front desk, vibe, the booking process, plus the actual class quality.

Reviews left on a co-listed class go to YOUR studio's profile, not the mentor's individual profile. The mentor can have their own reviews on their own profile separately.

Accepted payments

Same badge row as a mentor profile. Shows which payment methods this studio accepts.

A studio that only accepts cash on arrival signals less professional setup; a studio with Stripe + a manual fallback signals a smoothly-run operation. Worth setting up Stripe even if your norm is cash for in-person classes.

Embed widget (Premium tier)

If you embed the booking widget on your own website (yourstudio.com/book), the widget displays your studio classes inline in your site's design. Students book without leaving your site; the booking is recorded in MoveMentors under the hood.

The widget URL is generated from your subscription dashboard at /studio/settings/embed. See Embed widget.

Things students notice

  • Photo quality. Professional photos move bookings. A handful of well-lit photos of your space and a few classes in progress make a big difference vs grainy phone shots.
  • Teacher diversity. A roster that includes only one teacher signals fragility; a roster with 5+ teachers signals a real operation.
  • Class diversity. Studios with 10+ class types per week look more like full-service studios than studios with 2 classes.
  • Activity recency. "Last new class added 8 months ago" is a yellow flag. Active studios add new classes or workshops every few months.

Common questions

Can our studio have a private profile, hidden from search? Yes. Deactivate the profile in settings. Direct URL links still work. Useful for invite-only studios.

Can I change our studio's name? Yes, in settings. The slug stays unless you also change it.

Can multiple studios share a profile (e.g. a franchise)? Each location is a separate profile by default. If you are a franchise with shared branding across multiple cities, you might want separate studio accounts per city to keep operations clean. Larger franchises can email support; we are looking at organisation-level account structures for bigger operators.

Can I show class instructors as photos in a "teachers" carousel? Yes, that is the "in-house mentors" section. It auto-builds from your roster.
