MoveMentors sends two kinds of notifications: transactional emails (about your bookings, payments, account changes) and push notifications (if you have the mobile app installed and granted permission). You can fine-tune both at /settings/notifications.
Email types
These are the types of emails we send, what triggers them, and whether you can turn them off.

The "regulatory" and "financial record" entries are required emails. Even if you turn off all marketing, we still send these because they document a contract or a financial movement.
Toggling email notifications
Open notification settings
Log in, click your avatar in the top-right corner, choose Settings, then click the Notifications tab. Or go straight to /settings/notifications.
Toggle the master switch
"Email notifications enabled" at the top is the master switch. If you turn it off, we stop sending you any optional email. The required emails listed above still go out.
Toggle individual types
Below the master switch is a list of every optional email type. Each has its own on/off toggle. Settings save automatically when you flip a toggle (small "Saved" indicator appears next to the toggle row).
Why the master switch matters
The master switch is a single point of override. If you globally disable email for two weeks while you are traveling, you do not have to remember which individual toggles you flipped. Turn the master back on and your individual preferences are still intact.
Email delivery
We send through Resend. All transactional emails come from support@movementors.com. The reply-to field is set to either MoveMentors support (for system emails) or the other party in the booking (for inquiries and reports), so a Reply on a mentor-inquiry email goes straight to the student who wrote in.

Push notifications (mobile app)
The MoveMentors iOS and Android apps support web push notifications using the standard Web Push protocol with VAPID keys. Push is opt-in: the first time you open the app you are asked to grant permission.
Push triggers a subset of the email triggers above. You can toggle individual types in the app's Settings tab. Push is supplementary, not a replacement: critical emails (receipts, dispute outcomes) always go via email even if you have push enabled.
If you uninstall the app, push tokens become orphaned on our side and stop firing for that device. No action needed.
How marketing emails differ
We do not currently send marketing emails. If we ever start (a monthly digest, feature announcements, etc), it will be:
- An entirely separate opt-in, not bundled into transactional toggles.
- Always with a clear "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom that one-clicks you out.
- From a different sender address so you can filter cleanly (probably
news@movementors.com).
We will never share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.
Bouncing emails
If multiple emails to your address bounce hard (server says "no such mailbox"), Resend flags the address and we stop trying. You will start missing things including booking confirmations.
If you change email providers and suspect bounces, email support and we will clear the bounce flag.
Common questions
Can I get notifications via SMS instead? Not yet. Email and push only. SMS is on the longer-term roadmap.
Can I get a digest instead of individual emails? Not yet. Each event is its own email. We are intentionally conservative about email volume; for a typical student that means a few emails a week at most.
Can I forward notifications to a calendar or other tool? The booking confirmation email comes with an .ics attachment so Gmail and Apple Mail can "Add to calendar" inline. See calendar sync for students for the full setup.
