You can book up to (class capacity) seats in a single booking. This is the group booking flow. One booking, one payment, multiple attendees.
When to use it
- A friend wants to join. Book 2 seats.
- A birthday party for 6 people. Book 6 seats.
- A corporate offsite for 12 people. Book 12 seats (and check with the host first if it is a quarter of their capacity; some classes are not designed for big group blocks).
How to book multiple seats
Open the class detail page
The booking sidebar shows a "Number of seats" stepper. The maximum is whatever capacity is left.
Set the seat count
Adjust upward. The total price scales linearly with seats. Most classes are priced per-seat; a 4-seat booking is 4× the per-seat price.
Add additional attendees
A list of name fields appears, one per extra seat (so 4 seats = 3 extra-attendee name fields, since you are the first attendee). Type each person's name. Last name is optional but helpful for the host's sign-in sheet.
Pay
Pay with whatever method you would normally use. The whole booking is one payment to the host; you are not splitting on the platform.
What the attendees do not need to do
- They do not need a MoveMentors account.
- They do not need to be emailed by us. We send the confirmation only to the booker (you).
- They do not need to do anything before class. Just show up.
The host gets your booking with a "party size 4" indicator and the names of all attendees, so they can welcome everyone by name at the door.
What if one person cannot make it
You have three options.
1. Show up with fewer people
Nothing on our side changes. The host will note that one person did not show but the booking remains paid for the full party size. The host may or may not refund the unused seat depending on their policy; it is at their discretion.
2. Substitute someone else
You can bring a different person instead of the original named attendee. Just tell the host on arrival ("This is Alice, she is taking Bob's spot"). The host typically does not care; the seat is paid for, someone is there.
If you want the change reflected officially, email the host or message them and they can update the attendee name on their end.
3. Cancel partially
The booking system does not directly support cancelling just one seat out of a 4-seat booking. The cleanest workflow:
- Email the host explaining you need to drop one seat.
- The host cancels the full booking and rebooks for the smaller party size.
- They refund you the difference (one seat's worth).
This is more friction than it should be. We are looking at supporting partial-seat cancellations natively but it is not yet built. For now, email the host.
Paying separately
The MoveMentors booking model is "one booker pays for the whole group". If your friends want to pay you back, that is between you and them; we do not facilitate split payments.
If you would rather have everyone pay individually:
- Each person makes their own booking, with seat count = 1.
- Tell the host you are coming together so they group you on their sign-in sheet.
This works fine but uses up more individual capacity slots and is a worse fit for "I am organising a birthday for 8 people".
Group discounts
Most hosts price per-seat. Some offer a group discount (e.g. "10% off for groups of 4 or more"); if so, it is described in the class detail page and applied automatically when your seat count crosses the threshold.
If you are organising a large group and the price is significant, message the host. Many hosts will quote a flat group price off-list, especially for corporate offsites. The booking is still on MoveMentors so the cancellation policy and dispute process apply; the discount is just baked into a custom class created for your group.
Group classes vs private group bookings
The line between "a group booking on an existing class" and "a private class for our group" is fuzzy. A few signals:
- If you are joining an existing public class and bringing 2-3 friends: regular group booking.
- If you want the host to themselves (e.g. a yoga class just for your party): private session request, not a group booking.
The "Request a private session" CTA on a mentor or studio profile is the right path for the second case.
Add-ons for groups
Most add-ons (mat rental, water bottle, etc) can be bought per-seat. Toggle the add-on and the form lets you pick a quantity. Some add-ons are per-booking rather than per-seat (a special workshop bonus, an after-class team photo); the host configures this.
Common questions
Can I add people after I have already booked? Not directly. Email the host. They may be able to absorb an extra person if there is capacity, but logistically it works better if you book the full party size upfront.
Can my friend leave a review on the class even if they did not book? Reviews are tied to bookings. Only the booker can leave a review. If your friends want to leave individual reviews, each of them would need to book separately.
Does the host see my friends' email addresses? No. We collect only names for additional attendees, not emails. The host has only your email as the booker.
What if the host's class has a 20-seat capacity and I want to book 25? You cannot book over capacity. You either need to convince the host to lift the capacity (some venues can absorb a few more), book the rest at a different session, or arrange a private session for the whole group.
