# MoveMentors

> MoveMentors is a directory and booking platform for independent movement teachers and small or boutique studios. Classes run in person (studio, home, outdoor or gym) or online on Google Meet or Zoom. Hosts set their own prices and policies and pay a flat platform subscription; the platform takes no commission on class payments, which go straight to the host. It is built for one-person teaching practices and one-to-four-room studios, not franchise chains.

Free-plan scheduling: Free mentor and studio accounts include 1 scheduled session per week, from Monday to Sunday in the account timezone (UTC if none is set). Each group class, private lesson or event date counts separately across all classes and locations, including dates in drafts. Recurring schedules can run once per week on Free. Cancelled sessions do not count. Bookings within a session are unlimited. Upgrade to Pro or Premium to schedule more than 1 session in a week. Existing scheduled sessions and bookings stay in place after a downgrade; adding more sessions requires an upgrade.

## Key facts

- **What it is**: a directory and booking platform with three account types: clients (students who book), mentors (independent teachers) and studios (businesses with one or more locations and a team of instructors).
- **Who it is for**: independent movement teachers and small or boutique studios (one to four rooms, three to ten instructors), the long tail that franchise booking software ignores.
- **Public REST API**: read-only, no key, versioned at https://movementors.com/api/v1 (mentors, studios, upcoming classes, health). OpenAPI 3.1 at https://movementors.com/api/v1/openapi.json, guide at https://movementors.com/developers. Errors are RFC 9457 problem JSON with a code and a hint; every response carries RateLimit headers (100 requests a minute, 5,000 a day on lists) and Retry-After on a 429.
- **Disciplines**: Barre, Cardio and Conditioning, Combat Sports, Fitness and Strength, Meditation and Breathwork, Mind-Body Movement, Pilates, Yoga, each with more specific styles.
- **Class formats**: in person (studio, home, outdoor or gym) or online on Google Meet or Zoom; private or group; recurring classes, events and workshops with an agenda, and multi-day retreats. Online classes need the Pro or Premium plan and a connected Google Calendar or Zoom account for the meeting link, which is created when a booking confirms and shown on the confirmation page and in the confirmation email. Studios on Pro or Premium run online classes too (created at /studio/classes/new); a studio connects no video account of its own, so each session is assigned to an employed instructor and the link is created on that instructor's connected Google or Zoom account. Paid online classes also need a connected Stripe account; free online classes do not.
- **Calendar busy-time sync (Google and Apple)**: a mentor who connects Google Calendar, or Apple Calendar (iCloud, with an app-specific password), has their events block the same times on MoveMentors, so clients can't book them while they're busy. For Apple, every iCloud calendar that holds events is read. Busy times are re-read every 15 minutes and on demand with Sync now on the Connections page; events marked Free, all-day events, and MoveMentors' own sessions and booking events don't block anything. Apple Calendar is read only.
- **Commission**: none. Card payments for classes are Stripe Connect direct charges on the host's own Stripe account, so the host is the merchant of record and MoveMentors never holds class money. Off-platform payments go straight to the host.
- **What hosts pay**: a flat subscription (Free, Pro or Premium; mentor Pro $9.99 USD per month or $99 USD per year, mentor Premium $19.99 USD per month or $199 USD per year, studio Pro $49 USD per month or $499 USD per year, studio Premium $99 USD per month or $999 USD per year) and, for mentors on any plan, optional boosts at $5 USD per session (studio sessions can't be boosted yet). Subscriptions and boosts are charged on the MoveMentors Stripe account and are non-refundable. Every plan, fee and worked example: https://movementors.com/pricing.
- **What clients pay**: the host's price, with no booking fee. A card booking holds the seat for 30 minutes while the client pays on Stripe Checkout and confirms once the payment goes through; if it never does, the seat is released. Bookings paid off-platform, and free bookings, confirm straight away.
- **Payment methods**: card through Stripe, plus off-platform methods each host can switch on: bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, in-person card, cash, crypto on any network, and a custom method the host describes. A class can accept fewer methods than the host's default. Off-platform bookings show the host's payment instructions on the confirmation page, and the host marks them paid when the money arrives. Online classes with a price are paid by card only.
- **Class packs and memberships**: Pro and Premium mentors can sell pre-paid class packs and group packages; Premium mentors can also sell recurring memberships that include a set number of bookings per billing cycle. Both need a connected Stripe account.
- **Cancellation policies (one per host, for all their classes)**: Flexible gives a full refund up to 24 hours before; Moderate a full refund up to 48 hours before and 50 percent until 24 hours before; Strict a full refund up to 7 days before and 50 percent until 24 hours before. Retreats have their own tiers (90, 60 or 30 days, or custom). Hosts pick the policy during setup and can change it any time at /mentor/settings/cancellation-policy or /studio/settings/cancellation-policy.
- **Changing or cancelling a booking**: clients move or cancel a booking themselves from the booking link in their confirmation and reminder emails, with or without an account. For a guest the link is personal and expires 48 hours after the class; an expired link offers to email a fresh one to the address the booking was made with. Before they confirm a cancellation the page states exactly what comes back under the host's policy: a card refund (sent automatically), a class-pack credit returned, or nothing owed when they had not paid yet. The same page and the reminder and review emails offer a one-tap link to book the next date of the same class.
- **Pay what you can**: any class can use a sliding scale. The host's price becomes the suggested amount and the client chooses what to pay, down to a minimum the host sets (which can be 0). Pay-what-you-can bookings don't combine with promo codes, packs, early-bird pricing or membership credits. Still zero commission.
- **Private sessions**: mentors set a price for each length they offer (30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes) and the weekly hours they are free, per place, at /mentor/private-sessions. Clients book from the mentor's profile in one path: pick a length, a day, a time, then confirm. No account is needed. Open times start on the hour or half hour, at least 12 hours and at most 30 days ahead, shown in the mentor's time zone with the visitor's own time next to it when it differs. Classes, other bookings, time off the mentor blocked and busy times from a synced Google or Apple calendar are never offered, and a room can never be double-booked. A booking is confirmed at once; the client pays the mentor directly (cash, bank transfer, Venmo, Zelle and so on) or uses a class pack credit, and gets a confirmation email with a calendar invite and a link to move or cancel. The mentor's cancellation policy applies. If no open time fits, the client can ask for another time; the mentor answers from a requests inbox. Studios switch private booking on per room. Agents can do the same over MCP: list_private_session_slots returns the lengths, prices and open times, and book_private_session books one for the signed-in user.
- **Studio instructors**: studios invite instructors to their roster as employees or as renters. Each session can be assigned to the instructor who teaches it, so the booking page and reviews credit that person. When a studio removes an instructor, it can hand their future sessions to someone else.
- **Studio space rentals**: a studio with Stripe connected can make a room rentable for a fee per session or per hour and choose who may rent it: invited mentors only, mentors it approves, or any mentor who meets a verification level. Visiting mentors find rooms at https://movementors.com/studios?rentable=1, request access or book a slot, and pay the fee through Stripe to the studio. Bookings on the visiting mentor's session still go to the mentor with zero commission, and rental refunds follow the studio's cancellation policy.
- **Text and WhatsApp reminders (add-on)**: An opt-in add-on, paid by the host, for mentors and studios on any plan. Reminders go out on WhatsApp first and fall back to a plain SMS automatically when the client has no WhatsApp, from the same number either way. The host turns it on under Settings, Text reminders (/mentor/settings/text-reminders or /studio/settings/text-reminders) and buys prepaid credit on the platform's Stripe account, never the host's class-payment account. Each message costs $0.10, whether it arrives on WhatsApp or as SMS. The host chooses which messages send: class reminders and cancellation notices (when the host cancels a class or a client cancels their booking) are on by default, and the booking confirmation is off until the host turns it on. Every message has a View booking button that opens the booking to see the details or reschedule. Messages only go to clients who opted in and verified their mobile number with a one-time code at checkout, and a host can make a verified number required to book. Two reminders go out per booking: about a day before and about 30 minutes before the class. Messages come from MoveMentors with the studio or mentor name in the text, and clients can reply STOP to opt out at any time. Supported numbers: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
- **Video library**: Pro and Premium mentors and studios with a connected Stripe account can build a video library: upload a class recording or course from any device (uploads resume on patchy wifi), set a price or make it free, and publish it to its own page (/videos/<id>) and the Library section of their profile. Clients pay by card on the host's own Stripe account, and the host keeps 100 percent of every sale. Watching needs a free MoveMentors client account: purchases and free claims save to the client's library (/videos/mine), play on any device they sign in on, and resume where they left off. There are no public watch links; full videos stream only through short-lived signed links issued after an access check. Hosts can group videos into a named series that plays in order, like a multi-week course, and can include videos with their membership so active members watch at no extra cost until their membership ends; members get an email when a new video is published, and each client can turn those emails off. A free preview clip of 10 to 120 seconds, cut from the actual video, lets visitors sample the teaching before buying. The platform's only video revenue is prepaid video credit: $1.20 per stored hour per month and $0.24 per hour watched, managed at /mentor/library or /studio/library. Hosts can grant access by hand to a client who paid another way, and can switch on automatic top-up so the credit refills from their card, at most once a day. When the balance drops below zero, publishing and new sales pause, but clients who already paid keep watching. After 60 days below zero the videos are unpublished; after 150 days, videos nobody paid for are deleted, and buyers of the others are emailed and keep access for 90 more days. Refunds and chargebacks remove access automatically. Every published video also appears in the public /videos directory, where visitors can hover a card to watch its preview.
- **Booking widget**: Premium mentors can embed their classes, events, retreats and video library, with card checkout, on their own website.
- **Promo codes**: Pro and Premium mentors can issue discount codes, up to 5 active on Pro and 50 on Premium.
- **Identity verification**: Pro and Premium mentors can verify with Stripe Identity to show a verified checkmark. Admins review uploaded certifications.
- **Financials**: Pro and Premium mentors get the financials dashboard and can export the booking ledger for any period as a CSV file, one row per booking.
- **Family accounts**: one client account can hold family members and book the right person into each class. Billing stays on the account, and each booking records who attends. Managed at /settings/family.
- **Duplicate a class**: hosts can copy a class, with its pricing, add-ons and settings, as a new draft and then add fresh dates.
- **Drafts**: a class stays a draft, visible only to its owner, until it is published. Classes created through MCP start as drafts and need a cover image and at least one upcoming session to publish.
- **Languages**: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian and Dutch.
- **Company**: founded in 2026 by Julien de Bats and based in Aruba. Operated by Digital Envision, LLC, under Delaware law. About: https://movementors.com/about; press kit: https://movementors.com/press; terms at https://movementors.com/terms; privacy at https://movementors.com/privacy.

## For AI agents

MoveMentors publishes a complete agent-discovery surface. Scan these endpoints in this order:

- **Robots and Content Signals**: https://movementors.com/robots.txt declares ai-train=no, ai-input=yes, search=yes per the Content-Signals draft. Please honour them.
- **RFC 9727 API catalog**: https://movementors.com/.well-known/api-catalog is the linkset-based discovery document with anchors for the REST API and the MCP server.
- **MCP Server Card (SEP-1649)**: https://movementors.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json for the tight machine-typed spec, plus https://movementors.com/.well-known/mcp.json for the longer manifest.
- **MCP server endpoint**: https://movementors.com/api/mcp speaks JSON-RPC 2.0 (Streamable HTTP, protocol version 2025-06-18). Its typed tools cover search, booking, class management, financials, mentor inquiries, platform subscription upgrades and per-session boost checkout; the server card lists them all. OAuth 2.1 with PKCE is required for any call that changes data.
- **ARD capability manifest**: https://movementors.com/.well-known/ard.json (also at https://movementors.com/.well-known/ai-catalog.json) lists every agent surface below with `urn:air:movementors.com:...` identifiers and sample queries, for registries that index agent resources.
- **OAuth 2.1 metadata**: https://movementors.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server (RFC 8414, with an auth.md `agent_auth` block) and RFC 9728 protected resource metadata at https://movementors.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/api/mcp for the MCP server (https://movementors.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource describes the origin).
- **auth.md**: https://movementors.com/auth.md walks an agent through registering an OAuth client (RFC 7591), getting the person's approval in the browser (authorization code with PKCE S256), refreshing and revoking tokens. No token works until the person approves.
- **Agent skills index**: https://movementors.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json (Agent Skills Discovery RFC v0.2.0) with sha256-pinned skill markdown bodies.
- **Public REST API (v1)**: https://movementors.com/api/v1 returns a JSON index of every public endpoint. OpenAPI 3.1 at https://movementors.com/api/v1/openapi.json (also https://movementors.com/api/openapi); human guide at https://movementors.com/developers.
- **Markdown for Agents**: request a public page with `Accept: text/markdown` and the same URL answers in markdown (`Content-Type: text/markdown`, `x-markdown-tokens`, `Vary: Accept`). This covers the home page, the guides above, /for-mentors and /for-studios, the directories (/classes, /events, /retreats, /videos, /mentors, /mentors/<city-or-category>, /studios), mentor, class and studio profiles, help articles, and the about, press, partnerships, MCP, privacy and terms pages. A locale prefix picks the language, for example https://movementors.com/de/for-mentors. Other paths return 404.
- **WebMCP**: in-browser agents can call `navigator.modelContext.provideContext()` to discover navigate, getContext and search tools on every page.
- **Long-form content for retrieval**: https://movementors.com/llms-full.txt mirrors mentor, class and help content in a single markdown file. https://movementors.com/ai-index.json is the machine-readable version.

Anonymous REST endpoints for quick lookups (no OAuth). Paths stay stable within /api/v1; breaking changes ship as /api/v2, and a retiring version sends Deprecation and Sunset headers at least six months ahead:

## Installment payments for retreats

Premium mentors can let bookers split a retreat's price into 2 to 6 installments. The first is paid by card at checkout, and the rest are charged automatically to the same card on dates the mentor sets relative to the start date (for example 50 percent at signup, 25 percent 30 days before and 25 percent 7 days before). The booker sees every date and amount before committing, on the booking page and in the booking widget, gets the schedule in the confirmation email, and receives a reminder email 3 days before each automatic charge. A failed charge is retried after a grace period (3 days and up to 2 retries by default; the mentor can change both). After the last retry the booking is cancelled, and installments already paid are not refunded. The booker can follow every payment on their booking confirmation page.

## Promo codes and discounts

Pro and Premium mentors can issue their own discount codes (percent off or a fixed amount) with optional usage caps and expiry dates, up to 5 active codes on Pro and 50 on Premium. Clients enter a code on the booking page; codes are never listed publicly. The discount comes out of the mentor's price, and the platform does not subsidize it.

## Waitlists

Available on every plan. When a session is full, clients can join its waitlist instead of hitting a dead end. When a booking is cancelled, or a card reservation is never paid, the next person in line (if their group fits) gets a pending spot for the host to confirm. Both the client and the host are emailed when that happens. The mentor's bookings page shows the waitlist count per session.

## Check-in and attendance

Available on every plan. Each session has a check-in list (/mentor/sessions/{id} for teachers, /studio/sessions/{id} for studios) that works on a phone: one tap marks a person attended or no-show, one tap marks the whole class, and walk-ins are added on the spot. Each name shows whether it is a first visit, money still owed, the balance of a class pack and the host's private note. The host can email everyone who booked from their own mail app. After class the host is asked who came; anyone left unmarked counts as attended about 2 hours later, and the host can still correct it.

## Tipping

Available on every plan, for any paid booking. At checkout the client can add 10, 15 or 20 percent, or a custom amount. Card tips are charged through Stripe to the host's own account alongside the class fee, with zero platform cut, and show as a separate line on the receipt. Tips on off-platform bookings are shown to the host to collect directly.

## Online classes (Google Meet and Zoom)

Pro and Premium mentors can teach online instead of at a venue. The mentor connects Google Calendar, Zoom or both under Settings, Connections (https://movementors.com/mentor/settings/connections), and connects Stripe if the class has a price, because a paid online class is paid by card; a free online class needs no Stripe and confirms straight away. When a booking confirms, the platform creates the meeting link on the connected account and sends it to the client with the confirmation. With Google, the booking also appears as an event with the Meet link on the mentor's Google Calendar, and the mentor's other Google Calendar events block those times on MoveMentors (re-read every 15 minutes, or on demand with Sync now). With one provider connected it is used automatically; with both, the mentor picks one per class.

## Studio instructor roster and per-session attribution

Studios keep a roster of instructors, separate from co-hosts on individual classes. Each instructor joins as an employee or as a renter: the studio sends an invite from https://movementors.com/studio/instructors, and the mentor accepts or declines from https://movementors.com/mentor/studios. Approved employees can claim open sessions on the studio's published classes from the studio schedule page (/mentor/studios/<studio-slug>/schedule), and each claimed session is credited to them, so the public booking page and the reviews show who actually teaches it rather than the studio name. When a studio removes an instructor, it can pick a successor to take over their future sessions; the usual room-conflict check runs again for the successor, and any clash shows on the studio calendar as needing reassignment. Payments for studio classes still go to the studio's Stripe account, and the studio pays its instructors on its own schedule.

## Studio space rentals (marketplace)

Any studio location can be made rentable once the studio has connected Stripe. The studio sets a fee per session or per hour, notes about its rules, who may rent (invited mentors only, mentors the studio approves, or any mentor who meets a minimum verification level: verified email, verified certification or verified ID). Rentable locations appear at https://movementors.com/studios?rentable=1 and on the studio page with a Rent this space button. Where the studio approves renters, the mentor sends a request that the studio approves or declines at https://movementors.com/studio/rental-requests, and approval adds the mentor to the roster as a renter. Where any verified mentor may rent, the mentor skips the request and books a slot directly. Either way the mentor pays the rental fee through Stripe Checkout straight to the studio's Stripe account, with no platform fee, and the session is created on the location once the payment clears. Cancelling a rental refunds the fee in full, in part or not at all according to the location's cancellation policy. Bookings on the visiting mentor's session go to the mentor's own Stripe account with zero commission, separately from the rental fee. Mentors see their rentals at https://movementors.com/mentor/rentals; studios see theirs on the studio dashboard.

## WhatsApp and text reminders

An opt-in add-on, paid by the host, for mentors and studios on any plan.

## Video library (sell class recordings and courses)

Pro and Premium mentors and studios with a connected Stripe account can build a video library: upload a class recording or course from any device (uploads resume on patchy wifi), set a price or make it free, and publish it to its own page (/videos/<id>) and the Library section of their profile.
